The NIH Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) is a non-scientist loan repayment program. Its purpose is to facilitate the recruitment and retention of highly qualified, non-scientist, NIH employees. The SLRP is managed centrally by the Office of Management (OM), Office of Human Resources (OHR) and is not among the research-based LRPs administered by the Division of Loan Repayment.

Intramural Loan Repayment Program
NIH employee research scientists and fellows who accept an NIH full-time equivalent (FTE) appointment may be eligible to apply to one of three Intramural Loan Repayment Program (LRP) subcategories. NIH may repay eligible educational debt in return for an agreement to conduct qualified research activities as an NIH employee. There are three Intramural LRP subcategories:
- AIDS Research;
- Clinical Research for Individuals from Disadvantaged Backgrounds; and
- General Research, including ACGME Fellows.
