23 NIH Institutes and Centers conduct LRP peer review. Both the Loan Repayment Programs and the Center for Scientific Review help organize and monitor this process. See our review timeline.
When are the funding
decisions made?
Funding decisions will be e-mailed to all applicants in August. Funded applicants will receive instructions for accessing the online LRP portal, and unfunded applicants will receive the name of an institute or center representative to contact for application feedback.
What happens if I am funded?
Your contract will be signed by an LRP official and available via your participant portal. After your research supervisor confirms your quarterly research activities, the first payment will be released to your lender in late October or early November. Thereafter, quarterly payments will be made once your prior LRP payment and research service are verified.
You are required to adhere to the terms and conditions in the LRP contract. Be sure to promptly inform LRP of any changes in your employment or research including institution, supervisor, home address or email address.
